In summer 2004, Salem Ministries started supporting poor widows in a village about 20 kilometers outside Vijaywada. Between 15 and 20 widows were provided with rice so that they could survive. In the meantime we support 85 widows and some widowers with rice and lentils. We would like to offer the young widows the opportunity to become self-supporting by working. Salem Ministries also plan to provide the village with primary health care.
